Our Favorite Food Trucks in KW
Over the last decade or so, small cities in the U.S. have discovered that sometimes the best food comes from an eatery with wheels. Dining options in Key West are unlimited, from fish shacks to fine dining, but here we’d like to introduce you to the best food trucks on the island.
Garbo’s Grill
Garbo’s is located right behind Grunt’s Bar on Caroline Street. The food is flavorful, so there’s usually a line. Some say they have the best shrimp tacos in all of Key West. Try them out for yourself. 409 Caroline Street, Old Town
The Blind Pig
This one is in The Gates Hotel’s backyard. The Blind Pig is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., selling quick breakfasts and other meals. Try the pulled pork, of course, or some fish tacos. Everything is priced under $10 and if you want to grab a drink, Rum Row is located steps away in The Gates Hotel. 3824 N. Roosevelt Blvd., New Town
Leila’s Latin Food
This food truck has the best view of all. Located right on Smather’s Beach, Leila’s has soon become a local favorite, from the service to the food. Fresh salsas, homemade tortillas and a personal touch makes for loyal customers at Leila’s. A favorite is Nicaraguan Fried Tacos, which goes just right with a horchata. Open 9-6 p.m., closed Mondays. Enjoy a day at Smather’s Beach with a quick, easy lunch. Smather’s Beach, New Town
Clemente’s Trolley Pizzeria
This isn’t a food truck per say, but a list of of trolley cart eats would be slim. Clemente’s serves wood fire pizza that has a great crunchy crust. Their hours are a godsend to many who happen to be in Old Town at a late hour -- Clemente’s is open 5 p.m. to 3 a.m., and they serve ice-cold beer. Stop in and grab a pizza. The 12’ cheese starts at 13.50, and feeds at least two. 629 Duval Street, Old Town
Pescado
Don’t let this innocuous food truck located near the Chevron gas station fool you -- it has some of the best eats in all of the island. The lobster rolls are exquisite. The seafood is all locally caught and undeniably fresh, and some say the fish sandwich is the best on the island. For pure Key West flavor, stop by Pescado. Open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 1127 Truman Ave., Old Town
