[5 Ways to Celebrate Springtime in Key West]

‘Spring Migration Mania’ and Egg Hunt at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden

March 23, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Kick off Easter a week early at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden on Stock Island (just across the channel from The Gates Hotel!). The Garden’s annual ‘Spring Migration Mania’ features environmental education booths, a kid’s interactive playground, multiple egg hunts with nearly 6,000 eggs, games, crafts, raffles, face painting, and more. Admission is $5 for non-members and children three years old and older, max $10 per family.

You may also like the March 30 ‘Easter Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt’ at the Sigsbee Community Center. The 10 a.m. egg hunt features the Easter Bunny, crafts, free food, and giveaways.

‘Easter on the Farm’ at Monroe County Sheriff’s Animal Farm

March 24, 1 - 3 p.m.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Animal Farm on Stock Island is a pretty spectacular place. What started in 1994 as a haven for homeless animals has gone on to become one of the most magical destinations in Key West. The farm is open to the public for two days a month (the second and fourth Sundays) which gives you an opportunity to meet their animal residents. You’ll find common farm animals like cows, chicken, pigs, goats, and rabbits alongside exotic species like a sloth, kinkajou, lemurs, alpacas, peacocks, tropical birds, and an albino python. Their next open house is free (donations appreciated) and includes an egg hunt, live local musicians, face painting, kids’ crafts, and an appearance by the Easter Bunny.

‘Grown-Up Easter Egg Hunt’ at The Gates Hotel

March 29, 4 - 6 p.m.

The Sunset Green at The Gates Hotel is hosting a hunt just for grown-ups to kick off Easter weekend. Gather your peeps, listen to live music, enjoy delicious food and beverages, and win lots of prizes, including the golden egg that’s redeemable for a free one-night stay at our sister hotel, 24 North Hotel, located just next door. Entry to the ‘Grown-Up Easter Egg Hunt’ is free.

‘Easter Egg Roll’ at the Little White House

March 30, 9 - 11 a.m.

The Harry S. Truman Little White House presents their free 7th annual 'Easter Egg Roll' the day before Easter. The event consists of live music, arts and craft activities, pictures with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, and of course, a traditional egg roll. The game is done in the spirit of the annual White House event in Washington, D.C., which was established in 1878 by President Rutherford B. Hayes, the objective being who can roll a hard-boiled egg across the lawn with a long-handled spoon the furthest before cracking.

Easter Brunch in Key West

There are several brunch options across the island on Easter. Here’s a few:

For something wildly different, attend the Drunken Drag Brunch at Mangoes for drag queen performances, a live DJ, bottomless mimosas, specialty shots and cocktails, and a delicious á la carte brunch menu. This event is 21+, 11 - 3:30 p.m. $60 pp.

Easter Sail in Key West

Key West Artisan Market: ‘Let's Get Hoppy Edition’

March 31, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Be at the Key West Wildlife Center on Higgs Beach come Easter Sunday for the holiday edition of the Key West Artisan Market. The ‘Let’s Get Hoppy Edition’ of the market is a double entendre, because besides the Easter festivities like a kid’s egg hunt, candy, and prizes, the market will also celebrate all things “hoppy” beer. The usual vendors will be in attendance, selling things like jewelry, artworks, cigars, soaps, fresh produce, and delicious eats, as well as Bloody Mary’s and mimosas at the bar, natural juices and fresh cut fruit, and food trucks and stalls. The family-friendly event features live local music and free tours at the Key West Wildlife Center.
