Smathers Beach

This sandy beach near the airport runs half a mile long and never gets too deep. It is a bit of a hike from the Southernmost Point, but well-worth the trip. There’s plenty of free parking spaces along the beach and bathroom facilities are available. Dante’s Restaurant & Pool Bar

Have a few drinks and take a dip in the pool at Dante’s. This restaurant and bar on Harbor Walk has a big pool that’s complete with a waterfall. It’s super laid-back and a refreshing reprieve from the nearby action of Duval Street and Mallory Square. 955 Caroline St., Key West

Higgs Beach

Higgs Beach is located near Smathers Beach and has a large playground that kids love. Higgs is a great place to sunbathe or take a quick dip; the water is so shallow that you can wade out pretty far. A fishing pier and great bathroom facilities are a plus! 1000 Atlantic Blvd., Key West

The Gates Hotel Key West
