Mother’s Day in Key West Guide

Mother’s Day in Key West Guide

April 15th, 2022 | Key West Events & Festivals

It’s the mother of all holidays. This Mother’s Day, show the moms in your life how much they mean to you. From the unconventional to the well-loved, here are 10 of the best things to do with your mom in Key West on Mother’s Day weekend.

1. Take Mom on a Scavenger Hunt Around Key West

Grab mom and follow the clues that lead you on a dynamic scavenger hunt around Key West. Put on your walking shoes for a 2-mile stroll around the Historic Seaport and Old Town where you’ll solve a series of challenges before rewarding yourself with a piece of key lime pie for a job well done.

2. Go to a Wine Tasting

Grand Vin Wine Bar is just the place to toast and get toasty. The wine shop on Duval Street hosts front porch sips and cheese pairings. Just a five minute walk north of Grand Vin, you’ll find Vinos’ flagship location on Duval Street. The wine bar throws a special ‘Sunday Funday’ bash every week from 12 - 7 p.m. with $6 assorted mimosas, plus wines by the glass, sangria, and artisanal cheese and charcuterie spreads.

3. Get Outdoors on Key West’s Best Bike Routes

If an immersive experience is what you have in mind for Mother’s Day, grab a couple of bikes and explore Key West at your leisure. The Gates Hotel offers a special Bike Around Key West package which includes two bike rentals per day, plus a bike basket, light, lock and keys, and helmet. Check out the best biking routes on the island here.

4. Treat Mom to Brunch

Restaurants are gearing up for the brunching marathon that is Mother’s Day, and reservations are filling up! Visit our guide to the Best Brunch in Key West for places to mix your breakfast fare with adult beverages.

5. Enjoy Afternoon Tea

Key West may not have an authentic Afternoon Tea, but La Grignote on Duval Street is an experience in and of itself. The French-style café has an incredible assortment of hot teas, coffee, and sweet and savory pastries like almond croissants, tarts, chocolate brioche, macarons, bread pudding, and mini pies to enjoy on their outside patio.

6. Relax with a Wellness Day

Spend a day relaxing, whether at the pool or around town. Yoga on the Beach is hosting a few Mother’s Day morning classes, a Slo Flo at Fort Zachary State Park (pictured above) and an Easy Flow class under the Key West Lighthouse. For some TLC at a massage parlor or spa, Prana Spa offers different aroma therapies, massages, and body polish services and Ocean Wellness Spa & Salon has a wide range of services including acupuncture, facials, massages, nail care, and hair styling.

7. Attend the Key West Songwriters Festival

The Key West Songwriters Festival is back from Wednesday, May 4 to Sunday, May 8 for five days and nights of live music and a behind-the-scenes look at the faces, voices, and stories of the composers. Grab tickets to events at select locations throughout Key West and don’t forget to catch nightly live music at Rum Row at The Gates Hotel.

8. Shop 'til you Drop at Local Stores

Amazing moms deserve amazing gifts. For island wear and island wares, we have a local boutique guide mom will love. We especially adore Flamingo Boutique, a clothing shop that features a fresh squeezed mimosa bar serving the to-go beverages in flavors like orange, lavender, key lime, and grapefruit.

9. Spend the Day at the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden

Spring is in full bloom, so give mom flowers of the different sort with a trip to the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden. Just a half mile from The Gates Hotel, the Stock Island native plant botanical garden has a beautiful collection of flowers, trees, shrubs, and palms.

10. Book a "Staycation" at a Key West Hotel
